What are you paying for?

Separate the business-consulting work from help preparing grant documents. A strategy or process engagement should specify diagnosis, research, recommendations, implementation responsibilities and measures of success. Ask whether follow-up support and changes to scope are included.

How should you compare quotations?

Compare the same deliverables, consultant involvement, timetable, payment milestones and exclusions. A lower headline price may cover less implementation. Do not compare only a promised “after-grant” figure when the grant has not been approved.
