An application can be rejected because the project, costs, timing or applicant does not meet the relevant rules. There is no guaranteed approval. EDG is closed to new applications; new project preparation should use EDGE requirements.

Starting or paying too early

Scope the project before committing. EDGE does not support retrospective applications: do not start work or make a payment or deposit before submitting. Submission is not approval; confirm the activity rules and project qualifying period before proceeding.

An unclear project scope

Describe the specific business problem, work to be delivered, responsibilities, schedule and outcomes. Replace vague promises with deliverables the business can verify. A well-written document cannot make an ineligible project eligible.

A mismatch with the activity

Check the actual activity requirements and eligible costs. Routine expenditure, a previously supported project or an unsuitable provider may not qualify. Do not select a grant only because its headline percentage is attractive.

Missing or inconsistent evidence

Reconcile the scope, quotation, company details, consultant information and project dates. Provide the documentation requested for the selected activity and respond to clarifications through the applicant’s authorised users.

What to do after a rejection

Read the stated reasons before deciding whether a genuinely revised new project is appropriate. Ask Enterprise Singapore for clarification on the case; a consultant cannot promise to reverse a decision.
